Medical Technologist Jobs in Massachusetts
A Medical Technologist, also known as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, plays a vital role in the med tech industry by performing and analyzing the results of complex scientific tests on blood and bodily fluids. These professionals use sophisticated laboratory equipment, such as microscopes and cell counters. They are instrumental in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. They may work in several areas of the medical laboratory or specialize in just one. Medical Technologists also ensure the labs are running smoothly by maintaining and troubleshooting the most automated and intricate lab equipment.
To become a Medical Technologist, one needs a strong background in sciences and a degree in medical technology or life sciences. A certification from organizations like the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is also required. They should possess strong analytical judgment and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are also important. Before becoming a Medical Technologist, a person might have roles such as a Medical Laboratory Technician or a Clinical Laboratory Technician. They may also have experience as a Biological Technician or a Chemist.
