Phlebotomist II

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.

  • Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
  • Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
  • Decontaminate and update patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
  • Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Understand and follow all physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
  • Package specimens for transport, maintaining integrity as per protocol.
  • Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department training sessions.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture.
  • Experience with blood draws and specimen collection.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
  • Ability to draw blood using various techniques, including butterfly needles.
  • 1+ years of phlebotomist experience in hospital setting
  • Pediatric experience is required.

This is a fulltime position with multiple shift opportunities. No part time opportunities available at this time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38771.20 - $49920.00/yr.
