Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilite the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring th the opering room environment is safe, th equipment functions properly, and th the operive procedure is conducted under conditions th maximize pient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and applicion of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anomy, surgical procedures, and implemention tools and technologies to facilite a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

• Educion : High School Diploma or GED, required. Gradue of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D Opering Room Specialist). For incumbents who are not gradues of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certificion please see additional skills required. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted, required.
• Experience : Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
• Licensure/Certificion: Current Surgical Tech Certificion (CST, TS-C, NRCST, or SA-C), preferred.
• Additional Skills (required): For incumbents who are not gradues of an accredited School of Surgical Technology or have certificion the following additional requirements may apply: recommended for new gradues to obtain certificion within 12months of hire. Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validion and competency testing. Demonstre effective and approprie customer service skills, verbal and nonverbal communicion techniques, interpersonal relionship skills, and time management skills.
