A minimum of 6 months training/experience in high complexity testing environment. Preferred 1+ year(s) training/experience in high complexity testing environment. Hospital experience is preferred. A qualified candidate will be board certified (ASCP, AMT, AAB, HEW or equivalent) or board certified eligible. Candidate should also have a minimum of 3 years of core laboratory experience including, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank. Board certified eligible individuals must receive certification within 1 year of employment. Essential Functions Complex analysis of microscopic, immunologic, biologic, bacteriologic, hematologic, and chemical tests and their results. Collaborates with physicians, laboratory staff, pharmacy, and medical director on all aspects of patient care. Uses automated equipment, specialized instrumentation and manual methods to prepare samples for examination. Assures all testing is performed accurately by following established facility policies and guidelines. Manages daily workload within the department to ensure patient testing is completed in a timely manner. Reviews quality control results prior to reporting any patient result and taking corrective action when needed. Effectively communicates with lab assistant and communicates collection needs. Complies with all hospital/department policies and procedures. Adheres to all regulatory requirements, patient safety goals and standards of best practices.
