These professionals use sophisticated laboratory equipment, such as microscopes and cell counters. They are instrumental in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are also important. Before becoming a Medical Technologist, a person might have roles such as a Medical Laboratory Technician or a Clinical Laboratory Technician. They may also have experience as a Biological Technician or a Chemist.
