Medical Lab Director Jobs in Tennessee
A Medical Laboratory Director in the med tech industry is responsible for overseeing the operations, management, and safety of the laboratory. They play a critical role in ensuring that the lab complies with all regulatory standards and protocols, continuously improving the quality of lab services, implementing new technologies, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals. A Medical Lab Director also supervises lab staff, conducts performance evaluations, and provides educational and growth opportunities to the team. They are also involved in managing budgets, developing and implementing policies and guidelines, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of test results.
Key skills for this position include strong leadership and managerial abilities, excellent communication skills, knowledge in laboratory procedures and equipment, and the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. Familiarity with healthcare laws and regulations as well as quality control procedures is also crucial. They should have a Doctoral degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or a related field and some professional certifications like the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or the American Board of Medical Microbiology (ABMM).
