A Cardiovascular Technologist is a pivotal professional in the med tech industry who is specialized in diagnosing and treating heart and blood vessel issues. Their typical duties involve conducting tests on pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. They operate and monitor medical equipment used to analyze a patient's cardiovascular health, assist physicians with various procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, electrocardiograms, lung capacity tests, and similar procedures which require keen observation and analytical skills. They also are responsible for explaining procedures to patients and monitoring their status during the procedure.

In order to succeed in this role, a Cardiovascular Technologist must have a strong technical understanding of cardiovascular system and medical technology, combined with exemplary patient care skills. They should have a certification from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Some of the job roles a person may have before becoming a Cardiovascular Technologist include a Radiologic Technologist or a Medical Sonographer. These roles can provide the practical skills and knowledge needed to successfully transition into a Cardiovascular Technologist role. It is also beneficial to have hands-on experience in a hospital setting or a clinic that provides cardiovascular services.
