Position Summary:
Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center is seeking a Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) to join our dynamic Hyperbaric Medicine team. This role is critical to the safe and effective delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to a diverse patient population, including those with chronic wounds, post-radiation complications, carbon monoxide poisoning, and more.
Our state-of-the-art facility features a multiplane hyperbaric chamber that can accommodate up to 10 patients at a time, operated 24/7 to support urgent and scheduled hyperbaric treatment needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor a multiplane hyperbaric chamber simulating diving conditions
Work collaboratively with a second CHTone technician inside the chamber with patients and the other driving the dive externally.
Ensure safe pressurization and depressurization procedures, avoiding over- or under-inflation risks.
Perform 23 patient dives daily
Maintain detailed logs, safety checks, and equipment readiness in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
Be available for on-call duty one week every three weeks (24/7 availability during on-call weeks).
Support patient care teams with monitoring and assessing treatment response.

Experience:
oMinimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in a hyperbaric environment (hospital or clinical).

Position responsible for the start-up of the chamber and ensuring that all systems are activated and within operating parameters. Monitor all safety parameters during the treatment and notify chain of command immediately if outside. Able to safely decompress all chamber occupants in accordance with USN dives tables. Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current, unrestricted Texas license and/or certification in one of the following qualifying vocations:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse (LVN/LPN)
- Diving Medical Technician (DMT)
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or EMT certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician
- Cardiovascular Technician (CVT)
- Certified Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT)
- Hyperbaric Nurse (CHRN)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Three (3) years as a Hyperbaric Observer, Hyperbaric Technician, or Healthcare Tech with E.M.T. or military experience.
- The position requires frequently lifting and carrying of up to 60 pounds; frequent sitting, walking, stooping and squatting.
- Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary.
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics are essential to this position.
Principal Accountabilities
- Demonstrates proper Chamber/Clinical Operations within the standard guidelines.
- Keeps up with proper refresher dives.
- Effectively communicates with other personnel and patients, maintaining documents as needed.
- Trains and mentors less experienced staff members.
- Conducts maintenance, inventory and research as required according to needs of department.
- Safely decompress observers/patients in accordance with approved decompression tables and protocols.
- Supervises maintenance and repair of hyperbaric chamber and all associated equipment.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
