Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature during the night shift. The ideal candidate will use automated equipment and specialized processes to accurately interpret results, identify abnormal findings, and ensure the highest standards of laboratory practices.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, perform clinical laboratory testing of moderate to highly complex nature.
  • Utilize automated equipment and specialized processes to test specimens, accurately interpret results, and identify abnormal findings.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures for patient identification, specimen collection, diagnostic testing, documentation, and data entry.
  • Recognize, document, and communicate unusual or critical result values.
  • Perform and monitor quality control processes, establish and maintain quality assurance and record-keeping systems.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs to ensure accuracy and validity of test results.
  • Conduct calibration, maintenance, and performance checks on instrumentation as per standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and evaluate maintenance schedules and operating procedures for new instrumentation, including writing technical procedures according to regulatory protocols.
  • Perform troubleshooting processes for instrumentation, reagents, inventory, and patient samples, and evaluate methods for solutions.
Essential Skills
  • Expertise in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis.
  • Proficiency in working with Chemistry Bench, Hematology Bench, Blood Bank, and Microbiology Bench.
  • Laboratory experience and CLS certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist CLS(NCA), or Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS(ASCP).
  • Completion of a CLS/MLS/MT training program.
  • Previous experience in a Hospital or Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • BLS certification.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 6+ months experience in a CLIA/COLA certified lab strongly preferred.
Work Environment

The work is based in a central lab supporting a LIMS migration project at a Level 1 Trauma Center. The role requires working scheduled holidays and weekends, with shift times from 1500 to 2330. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
