The Sperm Bank of California is a community-based, non-profit clinical lab dedicated to providing ethical and inclusive family building options to a diverse community. Seeking technical supervisor for our reproductive tissue bank in downtown Berkeley. Full-time position. 40 hours/week. Daytime hours only, no weekends. Excellent pay and benefits. The CLS/Technical Supervisor is a working manager position. Primary duties include: Technical Supervision of the lab and general supervision of one lab assistant/phlebotomist Performing semen analysis, morphology, and processing samples for freezing Co-managing the lab with the Lab Operations Supervisor Maintaining: CLIA compliance, QA/QC, lab equipment including semen analyzer, lab procedures, updating licensing, and other technical or management duties as assigned. Qualifications: Current valid California CLS license is required (applicants without current CA CLS license will not be considered) 5+ years experience as a licensed CLS with strong bench skills Experience maintaining compliance with CLIA, FDA, CA DPH, or similar regulations highly desired Skills: Performing semen analysis (experience working in a reproductive health or andrology lab performing semen analysis and morphology strongly preferred) Lab oversight, quality control and quality assurance Able to work meticulously with detail and high emphasis on quality General lab skills including use of light microscope and centrifuge, accuracy in labeling and measuring, lab documentation, and infection control techniques Effective oral and written communication skills, experience writing procedures desired Ability to prioritize tasks while working independently and under time constraints Computer proficiency for data entry, word processing, email, etc. Ability to provide excellent customer service to sperm donors and storage clients Able to work effectively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organization Physical Requirements: Ability to walk/stand for most of 8 hr workday. Ability to use a computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal intermittently over an 8 hour workday, sometimes for extended periods of time.
