RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide physical testing of incoming raw materials, in-process and finished products for a production plant. Tests involve high temperature and flammable reagents.
- Conducting effluent sampling and analysis
- Maintaining laboratory system for equipment calibration
- Issuing and transmitting Certificates of Analysis directly to the customer
- Investigation of customer complaints when related to product quality
- Preparation and shipment of customer samples up to 25 kg
- Prepare documentation for bulk shipments outside normal business hours
- Running calibrations and Lab standards
- Complete maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment
- Completion of Laboratory Quality records as prescribed
- Maintaining clear accurate records of results/events
- Responsible for initiation of any non-conformities using Ester database
- Entering Notifications in SAP system for repair of laboaratory equipment
- Ensuring equipment is in proper state of repair
- Assist with investigation of pertinent customer complaints
- Complete weekend MISA sample collection and testing
- Ensuring laboratory is maintained in proper state of cleanliness
- Assist with maintaining departmental procedures
- Notification of laboratory supplies requirements: equipment and test oils
- Other related responsibilities
- REQUIREMENTS
- The incumbent should have as a minimum Grade 12 Diploma including Chemistry, recognized equivalent or post-secondary education in a laboratory or chemical discipline.
- Oral and written proficiency in English and Math is essential. The incumbent should ideally have a proven record of laboratory experience and experience with computer-based systems, such as SAP (or similar), email, spreadsheets, etc.
The ability to work independently and safely, organize and prioritize tasks is essential.
Previous work experience in a chemical or industrial facility is preferred.
Knowledge of Management systems, e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, Responsible Care would be an advantage.
Knowledge of petroleum additives testing methods would be an advantage.
Previous experience using a forklift would be an advantage.
Ability to effectively work as part of a team.
Must be flexible to take on new duties as required; take initiative to solve problems; and take ownership of the outcome of their work.
