Responsibilities The Sterile Processing Technician sterilizes and organizes equipment that is required during surgical procedures and other medical proceedings. They may also prepare patients for surgery. Sterile Processing Techs prepare the operating room, maintain inventory and also order equipment that is required for a surgical procedure. They assist the surgeons during the surgery by handing them the instruments that are required, and cleaning and sterilizing instruments after their use. Sterile Processing Technicians can be either Clinical Medical Assistants or Surgical Technologists. Traveling Surgical Techs usually work in hospitals, medical centers or clinics. Requirements

• 1+ year of recent experience in this setting
• Valid CRCST or CBSPD certification
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Professional References
