This position may be eligible for a $15,000 sign on bonus with a 3 year commitment.

Schedule: Day Shift Monday - Friday. Includes call time one weeknight overnight each week. Rotate every 4th Weekend/Holiday.

A Brief Overview

Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures and related duties in the assigned laboratory specialty. Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory services, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance, test result correlation and clinical laboratory continuing education.

What you will do

  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation or disciplines, including but not limited to: supply inventory, quality control, calibration, and reagent preparation.
  • Accurately performs HLA typing and analysis using serological and molecular methods including PCR-SSP/SSO and performs cross-matching and antibody screening using Flow Cytometry and Luminex Platform.
  • Communicates laboratory data and pertinent technical information to appropriate departments and individuals in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Critiques, correlates and differentiates results of tests utilizing theoretical knowledge and independent judgment in addition to established protocol, techniques and equipment manuals.
  • Assesses the validity of results which appear usual, or which may differ significantly from previous results or expected values.
  • Participates with development of protocols, lab manuals, new instrumentation, lab CQI or other laboratory developmental activities.
  • Provides instruction and/or perform specimen collection.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Transcript showing completion of Medical Laboratory Science degree or
  • Bachelor's Transcript showing completion of Medical Technology degree
  • Certified Histocompatability Associate (CHA) - The American College of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ACHI) within 3 Years or
  • Certified Histocompatability Technologist (CHT) - The American College of Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics (ACHI) within 2 Years

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Specialty certification from American Society Clinical Sciences (ASCP), American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), National Registry for Certified Chemists (NRCC) or other equivalent agency as appropriate for the assigned area of specialty Upon Hire
  • 1-3 years recent Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) transplant experience
