Histo-Technician

Job Summary Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histo-Technician to join our Government Solutions team.

In this role, you will be responsible for the preservation, processing, and digital archiving of anatomical pathological tissue specimens, maintaining a T1 Investigation clearance and utilizing your ASCP Histology certification (or eligibility) to ensure the integrity of historically significant medical materials.

What Youll Do In this role, you will:

  • Manage Specimen Preservation & Archiving: Execute the full lifecycle of tissue specimen handlingincluding fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and stainingwhile organizing and cataloging physical slides and blocks for long-term repository retention.

  • Lead Digital Cataloging & Quality Control: Create and maintain electronic record-keeping systems and user-friendly databases for archival research, performing microscopic evaluations to verify the quality of stains before digitization.

  • Support Clinical & Research Inquiries: Advise users on preservation methods, respond to archival research inquiries, and collaborate on clinical service work to ensure the repository remains a functional resource for the medical community.

What Youll Bring The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2 years of experience in a medical or clinical setting, specifically working with tissue samples (slides, blocks, or scans).

  • Strong knowledge of anatomical pathological tissue processing, tissue identification, and the mandatory standards for specimen collection and storage.

  • Proven ability in database maintenance, Microsoft Office Suite for data analysis, and the organization of complex tracking logs and archival systems.

  • Associate or Bachelors Degree in a Scientific or Technical discipline, ASCP Histology certification (or eligibility), and a T1 Investigation clearance .

Reasonably expected salary range: $68,400.00 - $85,500.00

Please note that an employee's starting salary may vary based on a variety of factors. Where State, Municipal, Provincial, Territorial or other legal minimum wages exceed the federal minimum wage, employees are entitled to the higher rate.
