Phlebotomist - PRN Women's Campus

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

• The General Lab Womens Phlebotomist collects clinical laboratory samples to be tested in the clinical laboratory. The General Lab Womens Phlebotomist will collect blood samples through the use of skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, urine samples, and other specialty collections.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Pathology

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Uses Mobile devices according to policy.
• Use and maintain Mobile devices and Spectralink phones according to policy.
• Utilizes departmental communication platforms.

  EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2 years experience in a like or similar position is preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
  • Able to read and understand rate, ratio, percent and bar graphs; Able to operate mathematically machinery such as calculators and computers.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be at risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and tuberculosis.
