Medical Equipment Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Bio-Mechanics Technician to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical aptitude who are interested in building a career servicing and maintaining critical healthcare equipment used in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, and medical clinics.
No prior biomedical equipment experience is required. We provide manufacturer-specific training and hands-on mentoring to help you develop the skills necessary to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair patient support equipment.
Position Overview
As an Entry-Level Bio-Mechanics Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, testing, and repair of medical beds, stretchers, gurneys, medical cribs, and other patient support systems. Your work directly impacts patient safety and helps healthcare facilities maintain compliance with regulatory and manufacturer standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on patient support equipment.
Conduct safety inspections and operational testing on medical beds, gurneys, and medical cribs.
Verify equipment functionality, cleanliness, and overall condition.
Ensure all equipment meets manufacturer specifications and regulatory safety requirements.
Troubleshooting & Repairs
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electromechanical system failures.
Troubleshoot motorized bed systems, hand pendants, actuators, control boxes, and backup battery systems.
Inspect and repair gurney braking systems, steering assemblies, wheels, casters, and elevation mechanisms.
Evaluate medical cribs for structural integrity, safety latch operation, and compliance requirements.
Replace defective parts and components as needed.
Documentation & Compliance
Accurately document all inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, labor hours, and parts used.
Maintain service records in accordance with company procedures and healthcare regulations.
Follow all safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
Customer Service & Communication
Communicate professionally with nursing staff, facility maintenance personnel, and healthcare administrators.
Provide updates regarding equipment status, repair timelines, and maintenance recommendations.
Represent Medical Equipment Services in a professional and customer-focused manner.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting.
Ability to use hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
Basic knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, batteries, motors, or electronics.
Experience reading wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or service manuals.
Experience in automotive repair, equipment maintenance, HVAC, manufacturing, military maintenance, or related technical fields.
Familiarity with multimeters and basic electrical testing procedures.
