Phlebotomist II Work Location: 1923 South Utica Ave, Tulsa, OK 74104 Assignment Duration: 3-Month Work Schedule:3rd / 2230-0700 rotating weekends and holidays Vaccines: RHepatitis B RTB RMMR RT-DAP RFlu RVaricella Position Summary: The primary function of a Phlebotomist is to perform assigned duties including specimen collection, troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements across multiple patient service locations. Pick up a cart, restock cart and clean at the end of shift, turn in key, some learning paths Key Responsibilities: Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data Collect and store specimens following established procedures Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes (blood, urine, fecal, etc.) Demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required Verify test requisitions or labels against orders for accuracy Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity Store specimens at required temperatures using proper containers Follow protocol-specific procedures for specimen handling and transport Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend required annual training sessions Handle incoming calls and communicate lab-related information as needed Perform specimen collection and processing in PSC and IOP settings Travel between multiple sites and adapt to different workflows Work independently or with small teams depending on site Qualifications & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required Minimum 6 months to 1 year of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or healthcare setting 2-4 years of overall experience preferred Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office preferred Additional Information: How many draws are required daily? 30-40 What is the work environment? (Patient service center, doctor's office) Hospital If this is a patient service center, how big is the location? How long is the worker expected to stand? Lots of walking, switching floors Are there any specialties? (Pediatric, geriatric) No peds, Geriatric and Cancer patients Will this person work with a team or alone? Will draw alone but have a team on the floor to contact How many weeks of training is required at the start of this role? Few learning paths, spend a week or so with site coordinator, read rooms, expectations, knowing how to fill out slips and contact nurses
