$18.85 - $28.30Job Summary:
Provides accurate, timely, and customer-focused collection and processing of laboratory specimens to ensure cost-effective laboratory testing for patients according to approved policies and procedures.
Major Responsibilities:
- Collection of Patient specimens in accordance with accepted laboratory standards and policies and procedures in order to ensure optimal specimen integrity and accurate test results.
- Processes incoming laboratory orders and specimens in a customer-focused cost-effective manner to ensure quality patient care results.
- Perform and assist in noninvasive electrocardiography cardiology services.
- Timely reporting of patient results and collection logs to maintain quality patient care.
- Actively participates in Performance Improvement and Advocate Experience activities within the department.
- Maintains a minimum level of competency on policies and procedures.
- Performs glucose time tests according to established procedures.
- Maintains work area.
Education/Experience Required:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Pediatric and Adult patient population experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of basic phlebotomy technique and the use of vacutainers, needles, and syringes.
- Basic familiarity with CRTs and keyboards.
- Exceptional patient relation skills.
- Is eligible to sit for ASCP phlebotomy certification exam , formalized phlebotomy educational program or pertinent on the job experience is acceptable

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Able to access work area. Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations Ability to work Saturday morning shifts *Ability to lift/transport specimens, specimen containers, and biohazard bags weighing up to 40 pounds. May be exposed to potentially toxic and/or carcinogenic solutions and vapors. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints. Routinely works with biohazardous specimens and infectious agents.
