The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for the performance of automated, semi-automated and/or manual procedures under the supervision of a Medical Technologist. The technician must demonstrate knowledge of techniques and competency in the fields of bacteriology, parasitology, mycology, hematology, serology, chemistry, immunology, immunohematology as required for the position. • Associate degree from an accredited institution as a Medical Technician OR Successful completion of a program based on a course of study including chemistry, biology AND a structured curriculum in techniques used in the clinical laboratory OR Have successfully completed 60 semester hours of academic credit including chemistry, biology and a structured curriculum in techniques used in a clinical laboratory at an accredited institution
• Experience in a large clinical laboratory and childrens hospital setting preferred; will consider new graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program.
• Must pass national certifying examination, ASCP or equivalent and obtain State of Nevada Medical Laboratory Technician certificate upon hire or within 90 days of hire
