Job Summary

As an SPT, you will ensure the instruments, tools, and supplies used in medical and surgical procedures are clean and safe for use. You will be responsible for sterilizing surgical instruments and hospital surfaces, as well as assisting with cleaning and organizing surgical rooms. You must maintain inventory and see that instrument trays are stocked and readily available. You may also be required to maintain the equipment used for decontamination and sterilization.

This job entails a high level of responsibility for the safety of both patients and staff. Our ideal SPT candidate will display extensive knowledge of current standards for decontamination and sterilization procedures and equipment. You must have a detailed understanding of surgical instrument construction, a thorough education in germ theory and infection control, as well as an awareness of surgical /medical terminology, anatomy, and microbiology.

An SPT must possess excellent organizational skills, maintain an orderly workspace, and pay strict attention to detail. You must be equally capable of working independently behind the scenes, as you are functioning as part of a cohesive team. We are seeking an SPT who is efficient, steady under pressure, and capable of prioritizing in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program

  • A minimum of one year of SPT experience preferred

Licensure and Certifications

  • Certified Cleaning & Sterile Processing Technician (CCSPT, CBSPD, or IAHCSMM )

  • Sterile Processing Licensure within the state of practice

  • Current BLS certification
