UPMC Hamot's Operating Room is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join the team!
We have a 17-suite operating room that offers wide variety of specialties from Robotics, Kidney Transplants, Trauma and almost everything in between. We provide high quality care for both our elective and urgent patients from infant to geriatrics. You are provided an opportunity to work with world class surgeons and anesthesiologists from all over the country. Join our life saving team!
Shifts/Hours: Full-Time, Monday-Friday 11am-7:30pm

Provides patient care, assists with procedures and daily living activities
Supports physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies
Reports patient status changes and gives feedback to RN
Performs core nursing assistant tasks: ADLs, blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I\&O, specimen collection, Foley care
Completes at least four advanced tasks: phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley removal, point-of-care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, IV removal
Reports equipment malfunctions and communicates effectively with departments
Responds to call lights, phones, passes meal trays, and transports patients
Accepts feedback, identifies learning needs, and seeks assistance for prioritization
Provides patient/family instruction under RN direction; applies/removes restraints per protocol
Maintains clear communication, cultural sensitivity, and workplace safety
Builds professional relationships, demonstrates accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment
Adheres to all patient care and hospital policies, including safety and standard precautions
Suggests and supports departmental changes and quality initiatives
Documents accurately and completes clerical tasks as needed
Maintains competency in core and advanced skills based on department needs
Limits medication access to distribution to nurse only

High school diploma or GED
One of the following:
1 year of general healthcare experience
6 months as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion
Enrollment in PT/OT/PA or related healthcare program with at least one clinical rotation completed
Bachelor's degree in a health sciences field
Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class
Successful completion of eRecord training
EMT or Paramedic certification or current enrollment in EMT/Paramedic program preferredLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
ACLS preferred
