Cytogenetic Technologist / Cytogenetics Tech

Cytogenetic Technologist Location: Charlotte, North Carolina Duties: Performs sample set up, harvesting, slide preparation, staining, microscopic analysis, photography, karyotyping, and FISH analysis. Ensures specimen integrity during all processing phases. Conducts various culturing procedures including blood, bone marrow, and biopsy cultures. Performs slide preparations and staining techniques. Conducts detailed microscopic analysis and FISH processing. Manages record keeping, stock supply levels, and educates lab personnel. Coordinates with colleagues and maintains quality control of culture apparatus. Stays informed about cytogenetics field developments and performs validation studies. Skills: Long periods of sitting and standing during procedures. Manual dexterity and ability to work with biohazardous materials. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent), or Technologist in Cytogenetics (ASCP or equivalent) required. Required License and/or Certification: CG(ASCP) required. Skills Needed: Previous FISH Analysis, Chromosome Analysis (blood and bone marrow), and Cytogenetics Wet Bench Setup experience preferred.
