Job Description:

  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
  • Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
  • Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Interpersonal Skills
Completion of validation skills
Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field set-up
Knowledge of sterilization techniques
Knowledge to anticipate critical emergencies of Specialty Call Team
Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in-services on unit

Education:
Associate [Preferred]
High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Field of Study:
N/A

Work Experience:
2+ experience as certified surgical tech [Preferred]
Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties [Preferred]

Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR
Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) [Required]
