Position Summary:

The Student Tech (ST) will perform, under the supervision of a MT/MLS, various methods of analytical testing on specimens using laboratory instrumentation, manual methods, and microscopy afterpletion of clinical practicums in the appropriate areas.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Applicant will be actively enrolled in a course of study of Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology. The course study will result in either a BS or an AD respectively to be a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician. The applicant shall remain in this position until he/she passes ASCP Board Certification, when this position will be relinquished.

Experience:

Must havepleted at least one clinical rotation required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Must be certified as an MLT within one (1) year of employment required.

Under supervision of a Medical Technologist, Manager, Administrative Director performs, evaluates, and records results on specimens submitted for routine and select non-routine procedures

Recognizes and solves problems under supervision andmunicates technical concepts

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with peers, nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads
