Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit/section or department. Will be required to maintain regulatory compliance according to CLIA and CAP requirements. Participate in hospital and laboratory quality management programs and maintain records and documentation appropriately.
- The Clinical Laboratory Technician is a position in the Laboratory that will perform duties in separate individual departments. Some duties may be common to multiple departments and others very specific for the individual area.
- The Clinical Laboratory Technician will be responsible for proper specimen collection, including patient preparation, if applicable, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens.
- Training will be completed and documented prior to performing testing or analyzing patient specimens.
- Follows the laboratorys procedures for all activities to include but not limited to specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
- Adhere to the laboratorys quality control policies, document all quality control and other activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and equipment maintenance activities.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately communicate the issue to leadership.
- Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
- A working knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- Tracks and maintains inventory of supplies and reagents.
- Prepares chemicals and reagents for processing.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology Clinical Laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science.
- High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
- job related experience in clinical diagnostic lab
Required Language Skills
- - Excellent verbal communication skills
Knowledge Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and data management
