Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Department of School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability - Geosciences as a Geology Laboratory Technician on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
Assists the SEES Laboratory Coordinator in maintaining introductory and upper level Geoscience teaching laboratories
Prepares GEOL 1121 and GEOL 1340 laboratories for teaching on a weekly basis
Maintains and cleans geoscience laboratories on a weekly basis
Aids in the identification and quality control of rock and mineral samples
Supports the SEES faculty and staff with general administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and scanning documents, and data entry as needed.
Shift Specifics
Up to 10 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Shifts available Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education
Pursuing a degree in Geosciences or related field
A minimum grade of "B" in GEOL 1121 - "Introduction to the Earth"
Preferred Experience
Prior experience working in laboratory spaces will be considered
Proposed Salary
$10.50 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
