Category Nursing - ORT Job Type Contract A Certified Surgical Technologist is needed to support the surgical team during general surgical procedures under the supervision of Registered Nurses and surgical staff. This role ensures the operating room is prepared with the necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and assists with patient care and safety throughout the surgical process. This position is based in Warren, MI and is offered as a contract opportunity. Key Responsibilities: Scrub in on a variety of general surgical procedures. Prepare and set up the operating room tables, instruments, and supplies according to the surgery type. Verify proper functionality of surgical instruments and equipment prior to use; report repairs as needed. Follow established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, infection control, and environmental standards. Manage sterile supplies with a focus on cost-conscious handling. Respond promptly to emergent situations and notify appropriate personnel. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the operating room, including proper storage of equipment and supplies. Provide patient comfort and support, respecting privacy during pre-operative care. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and departmental information. Assist the Registered Nurse in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients from the OR. Help manage supply par levels for efficient inventory control. Support ongoing education, participate in audits, and contribute to department improvements. May provide training or precept new employees in the Surgical Technologist role. Qualifications and Experience: Certified Surgical Technologist credential required. Nursing skills, specifically in Operating Room Technology (ORT), highly valued. Proven experience in surgical instrument handling and sterile technique. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in emergent situations.
