Medical Laboratory Scientist

Vernon Memorial Healthcare is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our Laboratory Services team. This position functions as a Generalist, demonstrating full competency across laboratory departments and performing a broad scope of testing procedures for patients of all ages.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform and report a variety of laboratory analyses from multiple specimen sources.
• Function independently as a Generalist across laboratory departments.
• Maintain accuracy, quality, and timeliness of test results.
• Assist with laboratory quality improvement projects.
• Participate in operational support activities to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.
• Adhere to all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience strongly preferred

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited:
• Medical Technology (MT) or
• Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) program

OR

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in:
• Biological science
• Chemical science
• Clinical laboratory science

with ASCP categorical certification

• ASCP certification preferred
• Current CPR certification required
• NEW graduates encouraged to apply

Hours, Wage & Benefits

• Hours:
• 7 days on / 7 days off
• Primarily: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday: 8:00 PM - 7:00 AM Saturday and Sunday: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM
• Rotating holidays required
• Wage:
• Starting at $28.53 with increase depending on experience
