Description

Applications forPart-Time EMT and Paramedic Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District. They will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.

Southwestern College is seeking qualified part-time instructors to teach EMT and Paramedic classes in person. Ideal candidates are available to teach all aspects of the EMT and or Paramedic program including didactic and psychomotor classes. This position may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and are all held at the Higher Education Center at Otay Mesa.

Successful candidates may be assigned to any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, San Ysidro), local high schools, extension sites and/or local correctional facilities.

Service modality is face-to-face.

Qualifications

Any bachelor's degree or higher AND two (2) years of professional experience ORany associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience OR the equivalent.

Additional assessment is required for applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States. Applicants must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) and must submit a copy of the evaluation with the application.

LICENSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid CA CA Paramedic License.

Valid BLS Provider (CPR) AND ACLS certification.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid National Registry Paramedic Certification

  • Instructor level certification: CPR, PHTLS, AMLS, EVOS

  • NAEMSE Level 1 Instructor Course

  • NAEMSE Level 2 Instructor Course

  • NAEMSE Skills Instructor Course

  • Healthcare Simulation Instructor Development Course and Debriefing Training

  • Prior experience as a lecturer/lab instructor/field preceptor/training officer
