Laboratory Technician

Exciting opportunity to join a fantastic QC team in the Houston area. This is a long-term contract position with tons of potential!

Position Overview: The Laboratory Technician is responsible for providing accurate results that will become binding documents for customers on the specifications of the product(s) they are purchasing. The laboratory technician is responsible for the correct use of the sensitive laboratory equipment to prevent damage.

Perform routine analyses on raw materials, in process, finished product samples, and accurately report results into LIMS and SAP.

Perform routine analysis on environmental samples, enter data in LIMS, and submit results to interested parties.

Maintain proficiency in all standard lab methods, software, and equipment used in the lab.

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot instruments as required, and document all information.

Perform daily quality control checks on designated equipment.

Ensure all hazardous waste produced in the lab is removed daily.

Maintain required documentation and filing of test records, as required by all relevant Quality Systems.

Manage retain sample life cycle throughout the lab and ensure weekly transfer to retain room.

Assist in customer complaint investigations.

Maintain sample retain room and dispose of expired samples in hazardous waste drum monthly.

Manage inventory of all gas chromatography gases, including ordering of gases as needed.

Oversee lab supply inventory and ensure an adequate level of inventory is maintained.

Enter work notifications for maintenance needed within the Lab.

Maintain a safe work area in the lab.

Perform other duties as assigned to meet the plant's needs.

Desirable (before hiring):

Minimum of 2 years of accredited training in chemistry and/or laboratory techniques.

4 year degree in Chemistry to improve future advancement potential.
