The Biomedical Equpment Technician I, Plumbing provides durable medical equipment repair and maintenance services with moderate to minimal assistance from the manufacturer.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides repair & maintenance services on assigned equipment to meet manufacturer specifications or in compliance with the AEM program

  • Accurately documents all medical equipment service & maintenance

  • Is developing a Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of knowledge in durable medical equipment and is willing to take first look at every modality

  • When assigned, participates in pre-purchase evaluation programs and acts as a consultant and subject matter expert in areas related to these responsibilities

  • Completes Project Management duties regarding technical, clinical & in-service consultation and support as needed

  • Performs evaluation of equipment failures to identify any trends, design and/or use problems

  • Assists with the installation and/or de-installation of medical equipment

  • Provides on-call support for assigned equipment

  • Minimizes down time of assigned equipment & minimizes cost where able

  • Assist with the repair & maintenance of other non-assigned equipment to grow knowledge set and competencies

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Requires standing for up to eight hours a day or walking for up to four per day. Sitting for extended periods of time. Frequent fingering, handling and twisting and turning in using hand tools or other situations. Lifting and carrying items weighting up to 60 pounds. Occasional pulling and pushing objects weighing greater than 300 pounds. Climbing vertical ladders up to 20 feet. Seeing as it relates to normal vision, and hearing as it relates to normal hearing. Sense of smell as it relates to distinguishing burning or other odors when working on equipment.

EDUCATION:

Associates degree in electronic technology, technical school training, military specialized training, or appropriate years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Electronics fundamentals class or Plumbing fundamentals class or Welding / Brazing class or Dialysis clinic / Central Processing experience Anatomy and Physiology Knowledge.
