We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician to perform accurate and timely laboratory testing in accordance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will assist in all technical and operational functions of the laboratory, ensure high-quality patient care support, and work collaboratively with other departments. Candidates must be vaccinated for COVID-19 and seasonal influenza. Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory tests using established protocols, ensuring precision, accuracy, and compliance with State and Federal regulations. Collect blood specimens using appropriate techniques including venipuncture, capillary, and pediatric collections. Analyze and report results, verifying and documenting alarm values promptly. Review logs and reports for any technical or clerical discrepancies. Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) programs as needed. Perform and document daily and periodic maintenance, calibrations, and quality control values. Troubleshoot and document issues with lab instruments; initiate service calls when needed. Maintain inventory of technical supplies and notify when reordering is necessary. Collaborate effectively with colleagues, physicians, and external partners. Maintain compliance with OSHA standards, universal precautions, and infection control protocols. Participate in training and mentoring of new technologists or technicians as directed. Support additional responsibilities and emergency duties as assigned by lab manager, pathologist, or hospital leadership. Required Qualifications Certification or licensure as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). Recent experience performing a full range of clinical laboratory testing. Proven blood collection skills for adults and pediatrics. Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills. COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination a Required. Ability to work independently, with flexibility for call shifts and emergency scheduling. Strong attendance record and dependable availability when on call. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a hospital or high-volume diagnostic lab setting. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). Previous participation in accreditation audits (e.g., CAP, CLIA, JCAHO). Experience training or mentoring junior staff or new hires. Certifications (Required) MLS (ASCP), MLT (ASCP), or equivalent national certification. Current BLS certification a preferred but not mandatory.
