Salary $51,405.39 - $77,108.09 Annually Job Number 25DOCCRA59LV024 Closing Date Continuous Description Join the Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation (DOCCR) as a Medical Laboratory Technician. This position will serve the Field Services (FS) with urinalysis collection for clients who are court ordered to submit to random drug testing and DNA samples. This position will also serve as a resource technician for all laboratory instrumentation including providing trouble shooting and consultation, interacting with the vendor/manufacturer and assisting with documentation of employee competency on the drug testing instruments. The Medical Laboratory Technician position is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is interested in a career working in a municipal county laboratory providing services within the criminal justice system. Location and hours: This position is primarily located at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and other satellite locations. The hours of the drug testing lab are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The work schedule will vary to meet operational needs and will not to exceed 40 hours per week. All personal protective equipment materials are provided, and safety protocols are required to be followed. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire. About the position type: This is a full-time, benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as a Medical Laboratory Technician. This position requires direct observation of male clients submitting urinalysis, so being male has been determined to be a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ), therefore this position must be filled by a male applicant. In this position, you will: Assist the laboratory supervisor in developing and implementing educational materials and training for new Medical Laboratory Assistants; act as a primary resource for training new staff when hired. Perform routine clinical diagnostic laboratory tests in all sections of the laboratory. Report test results according to established protocol. Recognize abnormal or unusual test results, evaluate, and troubleshoot when indicated. Communicate such results and follow established procedures for reporting. Operate, conduct performance checks on, calibrate and maintain testing equipment/instrumentation. Perform and interpret quality control and monitor results. Obtain and process specimens used in clinical laboratory analysis. Record data in appropriate records and calibration data. Comply with safety regulations and work rules.
