**Job Summary and Qualifications**
Under the direction of the Director of Surgical Services, is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department.
**What you will do in this role:**
Provides feedback to the Director of Surgical Services regarding budgetary considerations, staff evaluations and opportunities for improvement.
Demonstrates and remains current with specialized knowledge of instrument care and sterilization standards.
Manages and coordinates all sterilization processes. Ensures strict adherence of bacteriologic testing and storage of records according to federal, state, and local agencies.
Responsible for ensuring Sterile Processing policies and procedures are actual, current, and up to date.
Schedules and maintains staffing levels within productivity guidelines and to meet the needs of the facility.
Oversees and reports Sterile Processing Units Performance Improvement activities through identification of opportunities and applying principles of performance improvement to effect meaningful improvement within the department and with other service areas, as appropriate.
Identifies and coordinates unit-specific education, reference resources and training to meet the identified needs of the staff and the department.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Five years Sterile Processing experience required with a minimum four years in the Operating Room environment working with instrumentation and infection control procedures.
+ Associate degree or two years of college in a health care related field required.
+ Certification in specialty required.
+ BS in health care related field preferred.
