Specific Responsibilities of the Polysomnographic Technologist: Conducts overnight Polysomnography (multiple montages), supplemental O2 titration, and Positive Airway Pressure titration (PAP) without supervision. Operates PAP equipment: CPAP, Bi-level, and Auto-titrating without supervision. Applies PAP interface devices as indicated by the manufacturer’s specifications. Performs MSLT and MWT procedures if required. Operates the center’s computerized Polysomnography system (PSG system) and is capable of troubleshooting problems as well as recording studies without supervision. Manipulates recording montages as required during PSG recordings. Manipulates filter and sensitivity settings according to the Sleep Center and manufacturer’s specifications. Performs the required PSG system and ancillary equipment calibration procedures according to Sleep Center policy.  Uses the manufacturer’s specifications when the Sleep Center policy on the equipment is not specified. Applies electrodes and sensors as according to Sleep Center protocol. Provides patient education on Sleep Disorders and Positive Airway Pressure. Documents procedures as required by Sleep Center policy:  paper and electronic. Scores sleep studies according to R&K rules and the policies of the Sleep Center. Utilizes the appropriate HMC computer system to admit and discharge patients. Meets or exceeds the required standard of patient care within the Sleep Center. Performs emergency intervention according to the HMC and Sleep Center policy and procedure. Completes pre and post-study procedures as required.
