Has accountability for the Advanced Life Support needs of the pre-hospital patient, including assessment, and use of verbal and/or written protocols of the medical director. Job Essentials: (List 5 or more of the job's major responsibilities) -Performs as integral part of the health care team, accepts/follows direction from Medical Command and provides quality ALS care in pre-hospital setting using established protocols. Performs BLS and patient education as needed. -Performs accurate and competent patient assessment and accurately reports findings to medical command, then renders appropriate patient care. -Medication administration including indications, contraindications, dosage and side effects of MICU approved medications for all age groups including infants, children, adults and geriatric patients, while adhering to all medication policies and protocols. Responsible for narcotic inventory. -Performs vehicle and equipment check at start of shift and documents same, then ensures that the vehicle and ready room are sufficiently stocked and ready for service by performing inventory activities, i.e. vehicle and equipment pick up / delivery, etc. -Operates MICU vehicles in a safe, defensive and courteous manner. Demonstrates knowledge of motor vehicle law - adheres to driving policies at all times, ensures the vehicle is fueled and operable and reports problems in a timely manner. -Participates in education of students, orientation and training of new staff and others, by assuming role as secondary or occasional preceptor. Monitors student performance during shift and gives guidance to help student focus or obtain needed skills. Educational Requirements, Qualifications: (Indicate years of similar job experience required) Graduate of a recognized Paramedic Training Program. Certified as a Paramedic by the Commissioner of Health & Senior Services of the State of New Jersey. Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to the professional rescuer level and American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Must maintain continuing education requirements, including annual BLS/ ALS skill evaluations. The Paramedic must be able to perform all duties consistent with providing BLS and ALS in the pre-hospital environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Paramedic will, on a routine and daily basic, be required to see, hear, smell, speak, sit, walk, lift, drive, and communicate in English both verbally and in writing. In certain situations the Paramedic may be required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required. General Description: Faculty member's responsibilities shall be teaching courses as assigned, student advertisement, assistance with registration, participation on College committees and involvement in professional development activities. Responsibilities: 1. Teaches assigned courses in accordance with description published in catalog and the approved course outline, in accordance with schedule of classes and incorporating alternative approaches, technologies and methods when possible. 2. Meets all scheduled class meetings and all scheduled office hours. 3. Advises Department Chairperson/Program Director of absences in a timely manner. 4. Current Instructor certifications in advanced courses related to discipline. * Demonstrated master of subject matter of discipline; including but not limited to National Education Standards, National EMS Agenda for the Future, CoAEMSP Accreditation standards, NJAC 8:41 and NJAC 8:41A, and NJ Paramedic Scope of Practice and Medication Formulary information. * Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates. * Willingness to use alternative educational delivery.
