Medical Technologist or MLT - Orem Community Hospital 69692 Description The registered/unregistered Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Medical Technologist) is accountable for performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory testing, both manual and automated, of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of pathological disease. Additional responsibilities include calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of laboratory analyzers; performing and reviewing Quality Control; Training and mentoring Laboratory Interns; scheduling and processing payroll; ordering and organizing/maintaining supplies; ensuring the laboratory is CAP accredited; and other duties as assigned or volunteered for at the discretion of the supervisor and/or Coordinator Tech. Working shifts will be 10 hour shifts 530-1400 and 1530 to 0200.  Days will be variable.  There will be weekends either every other or every 3rd depending on how scheduling works out.  Most holidays are on call.  There will also be call shifts available. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Laboratory Science, Chemical Laboratory Science, or Physical Laboratory Science  Requires a broad use of independent judgment, problem solving, and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Proven effective interpersonal relationship and communication skills Will also consider Medical Laboratory Technician, must be registered Basic computer skills   Preferred Items: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification. Candidates with previous experience in hematology and checmistry preferred. Directing the customer to the appropriate area within the department or answering basic questions, such as release of information process or verifying discharge dates for insurance companies. Acting as a gatekeeper to records being returned to the department. Checks in records being returned from other departments in the hospital before putting taking them back to be filed. Checking out charts in the computer that are requested by other departments, such as the emergency department, before sending them. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Minimum 2 years experience in a service industry with at least 1year in a senior customer service role. Previous healthcare experience preferred.
