An incumbent assumes responsibility for the safe, efficient and proper operation of ultrasound equipment. Essential Duties: Performs a basic history and physical prior to the patient’s non-invasive evaluation, including auscultation for bruits and blood pressure measurements. Performs non-invasive diagnostic exams in an out-patient or in-patient setting, including extracranial cerebrovascular, intracranial cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, peripheral venous, dialysis access, abdominal arterial, abdominal venous evaluations, and intraoperative monitoring; performs all examinations in accordance with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and Intersociatal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Labs (ICAVL) standards and department protocols. Interprets evaluation and provides a preliminary report following completion of evaluation. Compares evaluation to previous evaluations is necessary. May need to intervene immediately with some medical conditions based on preliminary results from the technologist. Schedule patient evaluations, often same-day or emergent.
